Walnut Lodge Bed & Breakfast is in Noorbeek, a small, picturesque village on the Dutch border with Belgium. The undulating countryside surrounding Noorbeek is perennially popular with hikers and cyclists. The Lodge is located near several walking and cycling routes, which take you through some of the most beautiful landscape to be seen in the Netherlands and Belgium combined.
In the village square you’ll find St. Brigida’s church, dating from the 13th century and built in the Romanesque and Gothic styles. It’s just a short, 4-minute walk (300m) from Walnut Lodge. There are several restaurants in Noorbeek, all within walking distance of the Lodge.
The old Roman city of Maastricht is only a 15-minute drive away, while Brussels and Antwerp in Belgium are 1 hour’s drive away. The German city of Aachen is a mere 25 minutes’ drive. Here you can still find many monuments from the time of Charlemagne and his Carolingian Empire. The cosmopolitan capital city of Amsterdam is a comfortable 2½ hour train journey.
For the more adventurous, you can get up early, catch a local train to Liège in Belgium to connect with the fast train to Paris, climb the Eiffel Tower, visit the Louvre and have lunch in the Montmartre district. You can be back in time to watch the sun set over the hills surrounding Walnut Lodge!
